True Desires: Tell me what you want, what you really, really want…

Let’s have a look at what you truly want for your life, what you deeply desire. And also, why you may not be pursuing it or do not have it already… Really – what’s stopping you? what are you scared of?

Our greatest purpose is to follow the seeds of inspiration that exist inside us, the ones we are destined to nourish and allow blossom in our lives, so that we may share the beauty of our purpose with the world. Our unique talents, interests and passions are given to us for this reason, right?!

But then we grow into adults and get consumed by the responsibilities of daily life, and our passions and true wants and desires for ourselves get put on the back burner, sometimes forever! Only to lead to dissatisfaction and discontentment in our lives and eventually within ourselves. We follow the path we think we should – the path that leads to security, financial and societal certainty, and we have to, just in case we do not succeed at the creative thing we actually wanted to do but may not make us money. Why are we persuaded away from the thing we actually want and desire and have the passion for, to the thing that will make us miserable. (This may seem a bit of an exaggeration or extreme for some, but for those of us who have lived it – this is very real).

And this may not be related to a career path or following a creative passion, it may be the way you live your life or your way of being – how do you want to be? Who do you desire to be? How do you really want to live? And why don’t you live/allow yourself to be that way??

Why do we not allow ourselves to do the thing that we truly desire? Why are we so scared or reluctant to be our true joyful selves??

Usually this is down to:

The story we tell ourselves – usually goes like this “I can’t, because…….”.

Question it: Does the story in my head match the story in my heart?

That damn day job – I’ll get to what I really want after I retire…

Question it: how can your work your passions into your daily life? Maybe changing the way you do your day job, taking on a side hustle in what you love, or just quitting the pesky day job!

You don’t know what your “it” is: maybe you have not figured out your life purpose, your true desire… yet!

Question it: do not chase and force the answer – it is already inside you, you just need to tap into it – the perfect thing to journal on if this is where you are at. You just need to go inward and listen.

Not surrounded by support for your passion – oh the naysayers – we all know ‘em, we all have ‘em…

Question it: Find your people – surround yourself with mentors and like-minded people who share your desire. You can support and learn from each other along the way.

Fear of failure – yup this is a big one and probably the main reason for not pursuing our passions in the first place.

Question it: there are no failures, only feedback. As long as you are trying, you are making progress. May sound like BS, but the most successful people have the longest trial of failures behind them. Learning to adapt and overcome are the most powerful skills you can learn.

Not even taking the first step – if you don’t even try, don’t take that first step, you will always fail.

Question it: what’s the worst thing that can happen – you put your passion out in the word and then what? But what is the best thing that can happen – I’ll bet its even better than anything you can imagine. Take the leap and the net will appear!!

Getting daunted by the vastness of your vision: oh the overwhelm we feel especially when we think we need to do it all at once. But there is a way – piece by piece, day by day – Rome wasn’t built in a day right?!

Question it: Plan it out – make a timeline (a realistic one). What can you realistically do and achieve in a week, a month, a year? This is your passion, your desire – make it work for YOU!

Keep your big desires in your heart and keep your daily focus on placing each stone that will make up your biggest vision.

Remember – you’ve got this!!
